Marriott Is Adding Hotels in New Zealand
New Zealand has been on my bucket list for a while. When you stay Marriott like I do, hotel news for a place you want to visit is not just noise. It is useful.

Marriott just signed a deal for three new hotels in New Zealand. First Marriott Hotels in Rotorua. First Autograph Collection hotels in Auckland and Wellington. About 335 rooms in all. Openings talked about from 2027 to 2029.

The ones I am watching:
- Rotorua Marriott Hotel — they are turning the old Arawa Park Hotel on Fenton Street into this, after a fix-up. Some say late 2027. 135 rooms.
- The Official Auckland, Autograph Collection — old building on Eden Crescent. Aiming at 2028. 82 rooms.
- Fable Wellington, Autograph Collection — 1940s building on Lambton Quay at Stout Street. Aiming at 2029. 118 rooms.

They already have JW Marriott Auckland and Four Points by Sheraton Auckland. Talk also of a Sheraton in Christchurch and a Moxy in Auckland around 2027. There is a St. Regis in Queenstown in the mix too. I am not building a full trip from a press release. I am just marking the map.
One thing I could not cleanly sort out: Marriott’s own note says 2026 to 2029, while Rotorua local news is firmer on late 2027. Dates move. I will treat late 2027 / 2028 / 2029 as the working plan until something opens.
When NZ finally makes the calendar, I will look hard at staying Marriott where it makes sense. Until then, this is just another reason the trip keeps climbing the list.
Stay tuned…
